Summer Slumbers

This summer we sure have been more relaxed about bedtime.  We have let the kids stay up later than they normally do and sleeping in has been so nice.  Oh the joys of no schedule!
Brielle was a little tired one evening...and those freckles (LOVE)!
These boys keep on sneaking into each other's beds this summer.  I am sure things will have to change once school resumes.  But for now, I am letting them have their bonding time.
Gavin is a trooper in his car seat and even likes to take a snooze on occasion.
Oh these boys...they melt my heart!

Rock-A-Bye Baby

I was watering Sarah's flowers for her and Payton was tending to Gavin.  The hammock seems to be a place that they like to go to chill while I am busy.  It didn't take long before Payton had Gavin fast asleep.
It was such a tender sight that I just couldn't pass it up!  Payton is an excellent big brother and helper for me.  Gavin sure is lucky and he loves his siblings too.

Gavin's First Haircut

Gavin's hair has a tendency to have a mind of it's own.  It amazes me how it can stand tall (but I love it wholeheartedly).
Nevertheless, it was time for a trim and to even out that baby hair.
See what I mean!?
Ready to go with an apron on and a sucker in hand.
It made for a much easier experience for the both of us.
I always try to save some clippings from their first haircut for the baby book.
Gavin actually did really well.
They always seem so much more grown up after a haircut.
He is such a happy little guy!
The bath was necessary.
It turned out SUPER CUTE!

That's Our Girl

My girls will never turn down a chance to paint their nails.  It is pure joy for them and the thought of getting dolled up makes them so excited.
One afternoon we headed to Swensen's to spend some more time with the cousins who were still visiting.  Maren busted out her nail polish collection and the girls were in heaven while the boys were all off playing.  Brielle let me really accent each nail and loved the finish results.  Oh the life of a LADY!

Horseback Riding

Another fun thing on the to do list while the Dudleys were here was to ride on Swensen's horses.  After Mckay was off work we loaded the kids up on the golf cart that was at our place.  Mark drove them over to Dick and Sarah's, while the rest of us met them there.
Making memories.
Kenzie and Ashlee were thrilled to go ride the horses.
Brielle also loves animals and was more than happy to get to ride.
Payton and Kason, having a good time!
It was a wonderful way to spend a summer evening!
I know others rode too, Taylor was off playing with more cousins at the time and may have missed out on the action.

Ice Cream and a Hike to the Water Fall

While the Dudley's, Kason, Asher, and Emry (with Grandma and Oli) were still here, we planned a FHE after dinner.  We grabbed some ice cream cones in Agusta on our way to hike the water fall.
Gavin thought it was too good to be true!
Payton was sure happy to be hanging out with cousins and the ice cream was a special treat!
No cones for Taylor...just the good stuff.
Delicious!
Look at her messy face!
The drive was a little longer than I remembered, but still nice and pretty.
The water was FREEZING!
Poor Taylor took a fall on a slippery rock and well... hit his head once again!
Another family picture where Gavin is distracted...funny boy loves the world around him.
We love family time!
Look at that sweet little face, I love it!
Brielle was in search for each and every flower along the way.
Super cute!
The hike was a blast and made for a perfect summer evening.

Library and Cousin Day

The rest of my family had to head back home but the Dudley's got to stay for a few extra days.  We headed to the library to watch a magic show that was in town.
Looking for volunteers.
The kids were having a good time.
Lots of friends and cousins were there.
They were getting a kick out of these men.
Payton participated in a balloon race.
It was some serious stuff!
Fun times.
Did he beat the girls?
Michelle also brought the stuff to make their own designs out of marshmallows and gum drops.  The kids enjoyed that.
Allyssa got a new stylish outfit for school during a little shopping trip.
And it wouldn't have been the same without a dip in the pool to cool off on a hot summer day!
These guys are having a great time together!!

Gavin's Ear of Corn

One of the joys of summer is a fresh ear of corn for dinner!
Gavin thought so too as he experienced his first!
It was love at first bite!!

McKenzie's Baptism Day

It has been a busy couple of days spending time with cousins and family, birthday parties, hosting, and preparing for McKenzie's special day.
Sarah finished her beautiful Baptism dress (we went shopping together with Sarah and McKenzie picked out the fabric). Just a small touch of turquoise...Kenzie's favorite color.
Then we hurried to take and develop a few photos for the big day.
She loves her new scriptures.
My sweet brown-eyed girl.
Lovely long hair.
Our little sweetheart.
It was on the verge of raining on us during the photo shoot.
Mckay was being silly and jumped in a picture!
Her dress turned out great.
She has been looking forward to this day for a quite a while.
We are so blessed to have her as a daughter.
Kenzie is beautiful inside and out.
Love all the layers!
She has a great desire to do what is right.
Taking a moment to stop and smell the flowers.
With the help of my sister Michelle, we made her a cupcake dress for some treats to share.
Daddy and daughter all ready for the special moment.
McKenzie adores her father!
And the rest of the clan before the baptism.
We love our Kenzie girl.
Gavin was trying to escape.
We had to take a few to get a decent one...perk of having kids!
Gavin was more interested in the baptismal font behind us though.
HA HA!
I think this is about as good as it was going to get!
What a special day, a birthday and a baptism.
We are a happy family.
Then Kenzie changed into a cute little white dress to be baptized in.  There were suits but they were huge on her and the church also had this dress and that is what Kenzie decided on.

After part of the program, it was finally time for McKenzie to be baptized.  It was priceless going into the changing room with her and having a short mother daughter moment.  We embraced as I told her how much I love her and then she told me something that I already knew, but will never forget, she said, "I am growing up so fast".  I believe that I may have giggled behind a few tears.  She took the words right out of my mouth!  I think she knew that she was about to make a big step in the right direction and that was a huge moment in her life.  It was so special.
After her baptism, I snapped another quick picture to capture her all wet and completely spotless.
She told me that she felt so clean at that point.
Our family after the baptism.
Dear sweet Gavin is distracted yet again!
What do ya do?
After the baptism we headed back to our home for some refreshments with friends and family.  She helped to choose rootbeer floats, she loved her cupcake dress, and even brownies.
We are proud of her decision to be baptized and her commitment to living up to her covenants.

Along the way my mom was taking pictures too, I grabbed the ones she got:
I just have to say, I LOVE THIS PICTURE!  After the program was over, Payton went straight up to his little sis, and congratulated her.  I saw it happen and it melted my heart (needless to say I am happy it was caught on camera).
Moments like these make me so happy!
Sweet cousins!
Handsome guy!
Sometimes I am in shock at the thought of already having children even old enough to be baptized.  Time flies...sigh.
It was a wonderful occasion and helped make for a beautiful experience for our family.
McKenzie is such a wonderful daughter and one of her daddy's princesses.  In fact, he even twirled her before helping her into the water.
It was a very memorable day!
